Robert Salas

Robert Salas is a former U.S. Air Force officer known for his involvement in the UFOlogy community, particularly regarding his testimony about UFO incidents at nuclear missile sites. Salas’ most notable claim is his alleged experience of a UFO encounter in 1967 while he was stationed at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Montana, where he was a missile launch officer.

According to Salas, in March 1967, an unidentified flying object was reported by security personnel to have hovered over the base. He claims that during this incident, several of the Minuteman nuclear missiles he was overseeing became inoperable. Salas has described the UFO as a “red, glowing object” and asserts that it was directly responsible for disabling the missiles.

After retiring from the Air Force, Salas became an outspoken figure in the UFO community, sharing his story in various forums, including conferences, books, and documentaries. He has been involved in efforts to declassify government documents related to UFO sightings and has participated in initiatives calling for government transparency on the issue.

Salas co-authored the book “Faded Giant” with James Klotz, which details his experiences and further discusses the implications of UFO activity on national security, particularly regarding nuclear weapons facilities. He has also been an advocate for treating UFO sightings as serious national security issues, urging more in-depth investigation and disclosure.
