Dannion Brinkley

Dannion Brinkley is an American author, speaker, and near-death experience (NDE) survivor, whose life story and spiritual journey have inspired many. Born on July 20, 1950, in Aiken, South Carolina, he is best known for his remarkable experiences during multiple NDEs and his subsequent work as an advocate for hospice care, spiritual growth, and psychic phenomena.

Brinkley’s life took a profound turn on September 17, 1975, when he was struck by lightning while using a telephone during a thunderstorm. This lightning strike led to his first near-death experience, during which he underwent a series of life-altering spiritual revelations and encounters. His account of this experience was documented in his best-selling book, “Saved by the Light,” published in 1994. In the book, he described his journey through a tunnel of light, encounters with angelic beings, and a panoramic life review, all of which transformed his outlook on life and death.

Following his NDE, Dannion Brinkley became a prominent advocate for hospice care and end-of-life support. He co-founded the Twilight Brigade, a volunteer organization that provides compassionate care and companionship to veterans and others facing the end of life. His work in this field has had a significant impact on improving the quality of care for those nearing the end of their lives.

In addition to “Saved by the Light,” Brinkley has authored several other books, including “At Peace in the Light” and “The Secrets of the Light,” in which he continues to share his spiritual insights and experiences. These books have resonated with readers interested in NDEs, spirituality, and the afterlife.

Dannion Brinkley’s NDEs and his subsequent commitment to promoting compassion and understanding in end-of-life care have made him a well-known figure in the fields of spirituality and consciousness. His story serves as a source of inspiration for individuals seeking meaning and insight into the mysteries of life and death. Brinkley’s work continues to touch the lives of many and encourages a deeper exploration of the spiritual dimensions of existence.

His books, tours, and lectures, with his wife, Kathryn, have transformed the consciousness of people across the world. Their nonprofit organization, The Twilight Brigade/Compassion in Action, trains volunteers to be at the bedside of our nation’s veterans. It was nominated for the Heart of Hospice award in 2008. Dannion and Kathryn share their lives with six children between their homes in Nevada and South Carolina.
