Lorraine Jeanette Day, born on February 24, 1937, in Alton, Illinois, was an American orthopedic surgeon and author. She graduated from the University of California, San Francisco, School of Medicine in 1969, later becoming an associate professor and vice chairman of Orthopedics there. In the mid-1980s, Day received media attention for her stance on AIDS risks in trauma surgery, advocating for protective measures. After retiring from surgery in 1989, she married former congressman William Dannemeyer. Day gained notoriety for promoting alternative cancer treatments, claiming a personal recovery through a 10-step plan. She faced criticism for her unconventional medical views. Day passed away on November 10, 2023, at the age of 87.
